Is someone using your computer without asking? Coming in while you're gone
and playing while you're away? Well, my programs: LOGON.EXE and LOGON2.EXE
will help discourage that.
My daughter had a bad habit of screwing up the arrangement of my WINDOWS
icons when she would use my computer, but she would claim that she didn't
use the computer last. LOGON to the rescue. LOGON asks the user for his or
her name and then writes the time, date, and user's name to a text file
named "CHECK.TXT". By running an included batch file named "WHEN.BAT"
I can tell when my machine was last run and by whom. I've also included
a program "LOGON2.EXE" this one just puts the time and date in the
previously mentioned "CHECK.TXT" the advantage is that even though you
can't tell who was the last user, you can tell when the computer was last
used. Just place LOGON or LOGON2, CHECK.TXT, and WHEN.BAT in your root
directory, place LOGON or LOGON2 as the final command in your AUTOEXC.BAT
and you'll always be able to tell when your computer was used last.
The LOGON programs aren't meant to be the final word in security, just
tools to help set your mind a little more at ease.
If you like LOGON and would like to help support my further programming
efforts, send a registration fee of $5.00 to the address listed below.
Your name will be added to the list of registered users and you'll be
notified of improvements, and new programs as they become available.
Thanks for trying LOGON.
